Momo's Fav Green Smoothie

I'm on a big smoothie kick right now (classic me every spring, lol). And this green smoothie recipe is my current go-to smoothie. 

 

When made well balanced with a protein source, healthy fat, and carb source, smoothies can make a great on-the-go breakfast, snack or post-workout option. You can easily mix and match ingredients to create your own fav smoothie and here are a couple of ideas for you to ensure you're making yours well-balanced too! 

 
Protein: 
  • Protein powder
  • Greek yogurt
  • Milk
  • Silken tofu
  • Kefir
  • Powdered peanut butter
Healthy fats: 
  • Coconut milk
  • Full fat greek yogurt
  • Nut butter
  • Hemp seed hearts
  • Chia seed
  • Flax
  • Avocado
Carbs: 
  • Fruit
  • Oats
  • Riced cauliflower
  • Leafy greens
  • Avocado (not just a fat source ;))

Momo’s Green Smoothie
(makes 1 serving)
 
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple (or fruit medley)
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut water
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 giant handful of spinach
  • 2 tbsp hemp seeds
  • ½ cup of ice
  • Add water if needed for desired consistency. 
 
Directions:
  1. Add all ingredients to a blender. If the smoothie is too thick, add water.
  2. If you want to enjoy it as a smoothie bowl, use less water so that it’s thicker.
